Why is dental calculus (tartar) removal important?
Cleaning tartar is very important because only by maintaining proper oral hygiene can we preserve the health of our teeth! The appearance of dental calculus causes numerous problems such as gingivitis, dental periodontal disease, loose teeth and the formation of caries. Bacteria found in tartar deposits can increase the risk of bad breath, gum disease, and teeth can turn yellow over time.
How is tartar formed?
The first step in the formation of tartar is plaque. Plaque is a colorless deposit of bacteria deposited on the surface of the teeth. Plaque retains impurities on the teeth and can cause bad breath, gum problems, and the like. It is removed by regular brushing (at least twice a day) and flossing.
Tartar is formed due to the deposition of hardened plaque, and it is impossible to remove it by brushing. The only way to remove tartar is to visit a dentist. Due to its irregular and rough surface, tartar accumulates bacteria and acids that damage the tooth enamel and can cause caries, periodontitis and gingivitis, as well as unpleasant breath.

Tartar removal
By cleaning tartar, it is possible to remove residual plaque, as well as pigmentation caused by smoking and consumption of colored drinks and food. Tartar cleaning takes place in the dental office and is completely painless, and includes the use of various instruments to soften and remove tartar and other deposits.
After cleaning the tartar, sandblasting and polishing are necessary to make the surface of the teeth completely smooth, which avoids the tartar “catching” again. It is important to note that the tartar cleaning procedure is considered a painless method, but slight sensitivity may occur near the neck of the tooth during tartar cleaning.

2
Tartar removal
The process of cleaning tartar is fast and mostly painless, where the sensitivity can only appear near the neck of the tooth (at the contact of the tooth with the gums). The process takes an average of 15-20 minutes.

Sandblasting and polishing
After the tartar removal procedure, sandblasting and polishing follow. Sandblasting is performed using small microabrasive grains of sand mixed with water and the method is completely painless. When your dentist completes the sandblasting procedure, teeth polishing is still necessary, which is performed using a special paste and brushes, which leave your teeth completely smooth and white.
